To find the outbound IP address used by your Azure Synapse workspace, go to your Integration Runtime settings. If using Azure IR, check this doc for region-specific IPs. If using a Self-Hosted IR, use the IP of the host machine (visible in the IR node settings or via this REST API).

I have this article and the service tag downloaded using json format. However it's difficult to find the exact IP for Azure synapse in Norway east. can you help and share the IP address ?

Azure Synapse is a combination of multiple aspects like Pipelines, SQL pool etc.

Is it the IP of the pipelines that you are trying to identify?

Can you tell me the specific methods to identify the different IP address. We're planning to use this IP address to whitelist in the client firewall to allow the access.

Which Synapse components are initiating the outbound connection (e.g., Pipelines, SQL Pools, Notebooks, Spark, Data Flows)?

Are you using Azure Integration Runtime or Self-Hosted Integration Runtime for your Synapse Pipelines?

What external service or destination are you trying to whitelist for access (e.g., API, database, storage)?

Do you require a fixed/static IP address for firewall rules, or is a range of IPs acceptable?

To identify the outbound IP addresses used by your Azure Synapse workspace, follow these steps:

Access the Azure Portal:

Navigate to your Azure Synapse workspace.

Locate Networking Settings: a. In the left-hand menu, select Networking under the Security section.

View Outbound IP Addresses:

Under the Firewall rules section, look for the Outbound IP addresses field. This will display the IP addresses used by your workspace for outbound connections.

These IP addresses are specific to your workspace and may differ from region-wide IP ranges.

If your workspace is associated with a Managed Virtual Network (VNet) and Data Exfiltration Protection (DEP) is enabled, outbound traffic is restricted to approved Microsoft Entra tenants. In this case, ensure that the external service you're trying to access is within the list of approved tenants.
