I am trying to open word file but I am keep getting a pop to open word in safe mode, when I select yes it open blank and when I say on it opens file but then after few second it quits.

I tried all possible solution like including uninstall and re-install M365 apps, Quick and online repair, Followed, changed template name, disabled all plug-ins, turn off safe boot option in windows, and perfomed all steps mentioned in youtube troubleshooting videos and microsoft community article. None of it workScreenshot 2025-05-27 143224.png

    Hi Cathy Strati ,

Good day! Welcome to Q&A forum.

I understand you're having a really tough time with Word,

Here are a couple of crucial things I'd like you to try next:

Step 1 - Create a New Local Account: By making a new local account, we can see if the issue is tied to your current user profile

    >  Manage User Accounts in Windows - Microsoft Support

Step 2 - Check for Office Updates: Please make sure your Microsoft 365 apps are updated to the very latest version

Step 3 - As a moderator, I sincerely apologize that we don't have the resources in our lab environment to directly troubleshoot or simulate this specific issue. However, I recently came across a user with almost the same problem as yours. This user outlined a successful method that worked for their account to fix the issue. As mentioned, manually uninstalling updates was also one of the suggested methods. Please refer to the two links below:

Microsoft Word, Excel, etc open then close immediately. - Microsoft Community

Manually uninstall Office - Microsoft Support

Appreciate your patience and understanding, and Hopefully Microsoft will make improvement soon.
