I installed MS 365 but when I open my word documents or powerpoints it opens in MS 2019. How do I get them to open in 365

    Hello Jeffrey,

You might want to go to Control Panel > Programs > Programs and Features and find Microsoft Office 2019. If you find both Microsoft 365 Apps & Microsoft Office 2019, I recommend uninstalling Microsoft Office 2019 and then reinstalling or repairing Microsoft 365 Apps.

    Hi Jeffrey Collins

Thank you for posting your question in the Microsoft Q&A forum.

Based on the information you've provided, here are a few suggestions that may help your files open with Microsoft 365 by default:

    1. Use “Open with” to set the default app:
    • Right-click on a Word or PowerPoint file.
    • Select Open with > Choose another app.
    • Choose Word (Microsoft 365) or PowerPoint (Microsoft 365).
    • Check the box that says “Always use this app to open this file type”.
    • Click OK.
    1. Alternatively, set default apps via Windows Settings:
    • Go to Settings > Apps > Default apps.
    • Scroll down and choose Set defaults by file type.
    • For .docx, .pptx, etc., select the Microsoft 365 version of the app.
    1. (Optional) If you no longer need Office 2019, you can uninstall it to avoid any conflicts:
    • Go to Control Panel > Programs > Programs and Features.
    • Find Office 2019, right-click, and select Uninstall.
